Sweet dream or a beautiful nightmare?
Lumo’s Cat is the third game in Lumo’s simulator trilogy. The game takes place inside your cat’s dreams and basically, every dream finds the cat under attack by hordes of mice sweeping in from every direction. Your job is to deploy the Cat Defence Squad to fight off the mice, and keep your cat asleep.
Like in real life, the food your cat eats affect the dreams it has. In Lumo’s Cat, players can modify the difficulty of each game to suit their skill or mood by feeding the cat different types of food.
Visually captivating and stimulating
The game is visually stimulating with blasts of fluorescent paint-like landscapes blended with bizarre, funky and engaging characters roaming across the screen. Lumo’s Cat’s aesthetics are fresh and exciting, making the RTS and Tower Defence genres more youthful and strangely, hilarious. I found myself smirking and exhaling through my nose loudly at the emergence of the Cat Defence Squad, who possess strange yet amusing abilities and appearances. I hardly encountered any glitches or lags, and the gameplay feels smooth and responsive. The balance of visuals and gameplay is polished and for someone who has never played a Lumo game before, I definitely found myself encouraged to play previous Lumo games. The music is also great as it adds to the humour of the game.
As each level is completed, a new pattern is added to the never-ending Cat Blanket – this gives each player a unique design for their blanket that reflects their individual game experience and personal artistic taste. Players can also share their blanket designs with friends which promotes great community interaction and encourages players to keep playing the game.
